Summary Techfest 2018 – Medtech village

So, the TECHFEST 2018 event in Đà Nẵng has concluded, leaving notable milestones for MEDTECH Village!

Over the course of 3 days at Ariyana Đà Nẵng Conference Center, MEDTECH Village welcomed the interest and attendance of over 5000 visitors, 22 Startups in the Medical field – which equivalate to 22 stalls in the MEDTECH village area out of a total of over 200 stalls at TECHFEST 2018, in addition to the interest and support of over 200 investors, funds, and speakers both domestically and internationally, 20 countries in the area and across the globe, and especially representatives from bodies responsible for innovative startups, investors, exemplary innovative startup firms from ASEAN countries that are representatives from Global Entrepreneurship Network GEN.

One notable occurence at MEDTECH Village this year was a workshop on “4.0 Technology in the Medical field” with the interest of over 300 people và over 200 people participating in person! Additionally, the workshop was honored to welcome the presence, sharing, and discussion of exemplary speakers and guests who are managers, investors, successful startup firms, and experienced experts both domestically and internationally. At the workshop, many topics were brought up and addressed by officials representing the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, and experienced predecessors. Surely, after this workshop, many startup firms have found the answer for their own future course.

Investment connecting activity, one of the most important parts, took place constantly throughout the course of the TECHFEST 2018 event, attracting the interest and attendance of many investors and startup firms. The total number of connections was 160, the number of interested investment was $7,86 million. Thus, it can be seen that the connections are deeper every day, and the quality of startups are improving.

Moreover, the Innovative Technopreneur Contes that took place within the boundary of Techfest 2018 attracted the interest and attention of over 600 startup firms from the tech village contests and other contests. From them, Techfest picked 10 of the best startup firms to compete in the finals. The organizers of this year’s contest were representatives from investment funds and investors such as: Venture Capital, Vinacapital, Scientist of Nexus Frontier Tech, Cengroup, JN Capital & Growth Advisory…

MEDTECH Village nominated 2 Startup representatives: Medlink and Genecare to participate in the semifinals of the Innovative Technopreneur Contest and both made it to the last 10 teams to participate in the finals. Ultimately, Medlink – the startup establishing a foundation to connect pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies to minize business cost for pharmaceutical companies – successfully won the third place of this year’s contest. The third-place team is going to win the prize of a trip to visit the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Korea to have the most realistic experience with a country that has been and is still going strong with the startup wave on a national scale. Additionally, besides the prizes for the winning teams, there were also prizes from sponsors. Medlink won an additional prize of a training course that is worth $1,000 from sponsor KisStartup. Moreover, from a country regarded as the origin of entrepreneurship in the area, the Singapore Management University gave away the prize of a 9-month seeding program, which allows startups to have access to advisors and other services from one of the best universities in Singapore. The $10,000 program, which begins from April 2019, were given to Medlink team and Wee Digital tean. May Medlink team learn a lot from these trips and develop even further.

The innovative and creative startup festival 2018 showed the development of the innovative entrepreurial ecosystem, which is getting closer to becoming incorporated with the world. The event took place over the course of 3 days, from November 29 to December 1, 2018 at the Ariana Hotel, Đà Nẵng.
